Filming "Corridor" in Milwaukee w/ Kurt Ravenwood

Published on: 17th August, 2021

This week on the show, we welcome Kurt Ravenwood. Kurt directs commercials, music videos, and short films. He also produces indie feature projects with friends, including the forthcoming film “Corridor” based in Milwaukee. He also started SRH, a full-service agency with a team of 25 and clients like Harley-Davidson, Dean Health Plan, Children’s Hospital, and Palermo’s Pizza. Plus, he helped Wes Tank with his runaway Dr. Seuss / Dr. Dre mashups, and lead the effort to create the show StoryRaps for Kidoodle TV.

The team starts by welcoming Mac back after his week away in San Francisco. Lindsay and Mac share about their own prior (very professional) filmmaking experience, and David shares about filming at golden hour and being both the director and craft services.

Kurt joins the pod at 19:10, calling in from sabbatical in Pasadena. Then: a memorable screening of Close Encounters of the Third Kind (20:50), gaining new perspective on Milwaukee’s strong film scene (24:00), Milwaukee’s roots of hard work and current forward energy (28:00), arts and culture as a way to understand different cultures and ways of being (30:55), being the Jrue Holiday of “Corridor” (35:35), fundraising for the film (44:45), potential for growth in Milwaukee’s film scene (47:15), NFTs get a shout out (55:00), an efficient Czar of Arts and Culture reign (55:35).
